During the past 40 years, we have developed many unique teaching methods, techniques, and materials.  These methods and techniques not only help our students build language mastery but also help enhance their creativity, responsiveness, leadership skills, and international consciousness.  DLD has empowered hundreds of our students to take graduate degrees at top English-speaking universities based on high test scores, outstanding applications, and above all, the training to express themselves fully and freely.

Tailored to Japanese students

Our program recognizes that Japanese learners of English often face particular and unique challenges with: pronunciation and hearing, noun grammar, conditional structures and verb usage, and letter and e-mail writing.  For over 40 years we have analyzed and treated these problems effectively, and we are able to bring students rapidly to the point where they can use the language correctly and confidently.

Natural English, not textbook English

We expose our students to the natural English of video materials.  At DLD we believe language should not be a sterile subject.  It should not be boring, repetitive drills or unimaginative exercises.  Language does not belong to some artificial textbook world.  It belongs to the REAL world that we all live in.  Although we use written materials to support and supplement our in-class activities, our focus is on natural, fluid communication, not on turning textbook pages.

Customized classes

All students have different needs and different backgrounds.  Since every learning situation and every learner is unique, we always evaluate (and constantly re-evaluate) each situation and each student in order to craft the most effective, custom-made approach.
